It wouldn’t be a Cleveland Browns offseason if it didn’t start with coach firings and discussions of who they will hire next. On Sunday following a loss to the Ravens, the 3–14 Browns fired Offensive Coordinator Ken Dorsey and Offensive Line coach Andy Dickerson. Many fans, myself included, were happy to see Dorsey let go after an abysmal offensive season in 2024. It seems like the Browns will go back to a Stefanski style offense and he might even reclaim play-calling duties as well. The question now is…. who will they hire to replace Ken Dorsey?
Klint Kubiak — OC New Orleans Saints
Perhaps one of the most appealing options out there, hiring Klint Kubiak makes all the sense in the world. He was the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints in 2024, and before that he had stints in San Francisco, Denver, and Minnesota in various offensive coaching positions. His ties with Minnesota are vital because he worked under Kevin Stefanski then. Bringing him in to help bring the offense back to what it was in Cleveland before 2024 would be a smart decision.
Josh McCown — Minnesota Vikings QB Coach
Sam Darnold is having a career year in Minnesota this season, and Josh McCown deserves a lot of credit for that. McCown, while he wasn’t a great QB during his playing years, has an incredibly intelligent football mind and seems to have the ability to coach players up on the offensive side of the ball. The biggest reservation with him is overall experience coaching in the NFL. Either way, he could be a good option. Maybe this former Browns QB could do better than Ken Dorsey did.
Dave Ragone — Los Angeles Rams QB Coach
I would say that Ragone would be the “least sexiest” option as the new OC in Cleveland, but he is an interesting candidate. He served as the OC for the Atlanta Falcons for three years, and he did not call plays during that time. So if Stefanski took back the play calling, he would have a guy who has been down that road before. He has been around for a long time and has had success in the NFL. In addition to that, snagging anyone from an organization like the Rams would not be a bad idea at all.
