Andrew Berry’s best and worst draft picks as the Browns General Manager

With how poorly the Cleveland Browns 2024 season has been, General Manager Andrew Berry will most likely be fired this off-season. There were times where it seemed like he would be the GM for years to come, but the massive failure of the Deshaun Watson trade combined with some misses in the draft might be his demise. Let’s take a look at some of his best and worst draft pics over the last few years in Cleveland.

Worst Draft Picks

Cade York — Kicker — 4th round 2022

Other than kicking the game winning field goal against the Panthers in week one of 2022, Cade York was a massive failure in Cleveland. He lost all confidence and they cut him before the end of the season. Drafting a kicker is always questionable, this turned out to be a miss.

Perrion Winfrey — DT — 4th round 2022

Sticking with the 2022 draft, the Browns took Perrion Winfrey with the 108th pick. He gave us a lot to be excited about via social media, but he barely saw the field and when he did, he was terrible. They ended up cutting him after off the field issues.

Anthony Schwartz — WR — 3rd round 2021

Man oh man….All Anthony Schwartz did in Cleveland was drop passes and stop on a route that ultimately lead to the disastrous Deshaun Watson trade. He was a major disappointment, ultimately a track star not an NFL wide receiver. Doesn’t help that they took him while Amon-Ra St Brown was still on the board…

Jedrick Wills Jr— T — 1st round 2020

This is the worst pick of the Andrew Berry era and I will forever stand by that. Jedrick Wills Jr has underperformed, had effort issues, and health issues since becoming a Brown in 2021. Berry took him over Tristian Wirfs as well, who turned out to be a superior player.

Dishonorable mentions — Tommy Togiai, David Bell, Jordan Elliot

Best Draft Picks

Martin Emerson — CB — 3rd round 2022

I will (for now) say Martin Emerson was a good pick in the 3rd round of the 2022 draft. In 2023, he often looked like a Pro Bowl corner. He has regressed in 2024, but that may be due to poor play by the team overall and a scheme that NFL offenses has figured out. Would love to see him with a new defensive coordinator in 2025.

Donovan Peoples-Jones — WR — 6th round 2020

Even though he isn’t on the Browns anymore, DPJ had fantastic production in Cleveland before they traded him in 2023. At times, he looked like he could be a solid number 2 WR. He always had reliable hands.

Grant Delpit — S — 2nd round 2020

Grant Delpit, minus injuries, has played at a very high level since being drafted in 2020. He was playing at a Pro Bowl level before injury in 2023, and has been mostly reliable at the Safety position.

Jerimiah Owusu-Koramoah — LB — 2nd round 2021

JOK has been stellar in Cleveland since being drafted in 2021. He is the only Pro Bowler that AB has drafted, and he was playing at an All-Pro level before a nasty neck injury in 2024. Expect to see him only get better with time.

Honorable mentions — Dawand Jones, Jerome Ford, Alex Wright
